WebSep 1, 2008 · The status of the experiment on the precise τ lepton mass measurement running at the VEPP-4M collider with the KEDR detector is reported. The mass value is evaluated from the τ + τ − cross section behavior around the production threshold. The preliminary result based on 15.2 pb −1 of data is m τ = 1776.69 −0.19 +0.17 ± 0.15 MeV. WebWe measure the branching fraction of the radiative decay J/psi -> eta_c gamma, eta_c width and mass. Taking into account an asymmetric photon line shape we obtain: M (eta_c) = (2978.1 +- 1.4 +- 2.0) MeV/c^2, Gamma (eta_c) = (43.5 +- 5.4 +- 15.8) MeV, B (J/psi->eta_c gamma) = (2.59 +- 0.16 +- 0.31)%$. The tau (τ), also called the tau lepton, tau particle, tauon or tau electron, is an elementary particle similar to the electron, with negative electric charge and a spin of 1/2. Like the electron, the muon, and the three neutrinos, the tau is a lepton, and like all elementary particles with half-integer spin, the tau has a corresponding antiparticle of opposite charge but equal mass and spin. In the tau's case, this is the "antitau" (also called the positive tau). Tau particles are denoted by the symbol … WebApr 1, 2009 · We present the preliminary results from the precision measurement of the mass of the tau lepton using 423 fb −1 of data collected at BaBar.
