Polymorphic selectivity in crystal nucleation
WebApr 13, 2024 · Phase transitions. Crystal structure. ABSTRACT. Crystal nucleation rates have been measured in the supercooled melts of two richly polymorphic glass-forming … WebIn this work, solid characterization for both polymorphs has been conducted in detail. The solubility, metastable zone width and interfacial energy of both polymorphs in different solvents have been measured. The influence of solvent, cooling rate, initial concentration and the temperature of nucleation on polymorphism has been investigated.

WebOct 6, 2024 · For organic crystals, the solvent composition also determines the selective nucleation of polymorphic forms . For oriented attachment processes, the solvent modulates interactions with organic ligands and also provides a certain degree of particle movement that enables co-orientation and coalescence [31,51,52,53,54]. WebFeb 8, 2013 · The metastable forms preferentially nucleated at the “contact line” where the solution–air interface meets the glass substrate surface. In contrast, the …
WebMar 21, 2024 · Co-crystal design is a convenient way to remedy the poor biopharmaceutical properties of drugs. Most studies focus on experimental co-crystal screening or computational prediction, but hardly any work has been done toward fast, efficient, and reliable prediction of solution crystallization for co-crystal formation. Here, we study the … WebNov 16, 2024 · We have measured the crystal nucleation rates at the surface and in the bulk of amorphous poscaconazole, a rod-like molecule known to have a preferred interfacial orientation. We find that surface nucleation is vastly enhanced over bulk nucleation, by ∼9 orders of magnitude, and selects a different polymorph (II) from bulk nucleation (I).
